A lot more than a fashion design competition

YourView is a fashion design competition like no other. Aimed at fashion students worldwide; it’s easy and requires little extra work. All you have to do is submit up to three images you created for a project on your course. The deadline is May 18, 2014, however you increase your chances by submitting your entry early!

This year’s sponsor is Bloomsbury Publishing. The 1st prize is a complete set of the Bloomsbury Basics Fashion Design series (12 books), the 2nd prize is a voucher for £100 voucher to spend on Bloomsbury’s website and the 3rd prize is a Bloomsbury’s fashion design book of choice (excluding the encyclopaedia sets), approximately £400 worth of prizes.

YourView fashion design competition is run in 3 stages, each providing a unique opportunity.

Modeconnect will not only feature one of the images you have submitted – if suitable – on its site but will also broadcast it on social media. The idea is to offer fashion students worldwide, the opportunity to connect with their peers, to exchange and start collaborations. In a second stage, finalists selected by Modeconnect will be interviewed to be featured on Modeconnect’s YourView. Finally, between May 31st and June 7th, their work will put to a popular vote that will determine the winners.

How to take part to YourView 2014

The competition is open until May 18, 2014. It is free of charge and open to undergraduate fashion students worldwide studying any of the following fashion courses: Fashion Design, Apparel, Communication, Promotion, Branding, Styling, Textiles, Accessories or Photography.

You can either Tweet or Instagram your visual or still better, using our submission Form, simply provide up to three images relating to one single project carried out for your course. This project must be creative and fashion related; it may be illustration, photography, apparel, surface or textile design. Beware, the form allows submissions to different features, make sure to select YourView in the first field. Include as many of your social media accounts as possible. If you choose to Tweet or Instagram your visual, make sure to use the hashtag #YourView2014 and include your name, course, city and country.

What happens next?

The first stage of YourView allows students worldwide to connect with each other and develop relationships that could lead to collaborations. Using the hashtag #YourView2014, we will broadcast on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and Tumblr, one of the images you submitted alongside with your name, location and speciality,  inviting others to engage with you and your work.

Finalists

Modeconnect will select the best works and invite those candidates to be featured on YourView. The students who choose to take part will be interviewed about their fashion student experience and their work. We will also ask for an image that represents them, a picture of their surroundings and the email of one of their tutor. Candidates will be considered finalists as soon as their interview has been published.

Winners

Publication of interviews will cease on May 30. Voting to determine the three winners will take place on Modeconnect.com between May 31 and June 7.

• Modeconnect reserves the right to withdraw or amend YourView competition and its rules in the event of any unforeseen circumstances outside of its reasonable control or if in its absolute discretion, it considers it necessary.
