Victoria Beckham opened up to Parsons students with her advice on business and plans for expansion during her conversation with Dean Collins.

photo (23) The day after she presented her Fall/Winter 2014 collection at New York Fashion Week, designer Victoria Beckham came to Parsons for a conversation with Dean Collins. And although we all only have 24 hours in a day, Beckham mentioned that she had even made to boot camp that morning, proving that she manages to make the most of her time as a working wife and “mum.”  With the Parsons auditorium filled to capacity, Beckham smiled and often joked during the interview, setting to rest some opinions that she is always serious. “Everybody thinks I’m going to be a prima donna, so when I’m not, it’s a pleasant surprise,” she joked. In addition, Beckham appeared very humble about her success and was adamant about both working for other people and surrounding yourself with a great team. “That’s the best advice I can give anybody: Don’t leave and try to start your own company. Get out there and work for other people. Be a sponge; have your eyes open, and enjoy. But learn.”

The audience also learned that Beckham has thought about expanding her current offerings. “I’d love to do menswear at some point. I get very inspired by menswear,” she said. In addition, Beckham also mentioned that she would like to do a shoe collection, and that is the next category she will look at going into.

And in case anyone in the Parsons audience still wasn’t swooning over her down-to-earth yet perfectly polished vibe, Beckham admitted that although she isn’t sure how she does it all, she does know how lucky she is. “I’m living a dream, and every morning I wake up and pinch myself.”
