STUDENT TIMEBASED MEDIA CONTEST

WHERE DO WE MIGRATE TO?


The Sheila C. Johnson Design Center (SJDC) invites you to respond visually to this question.
Selected work, chosen by a jury, will be screened in a compilation on the SJDC plasma screens at 2 W. 13 Street from March 30 to April 30, 2012.

Who: All currently enrolled New School students are welcome to submit.
What: Short timeā€based work that explores this question imaginatively. We are interested in migrant experiences of journey and exile that include but are not limited to: mistranslations, loss and longing,
homesickness, hopes and dreams, isolation and solidarities, borders and bureaucracies. You can be poetic, political, narrative, comic, experimental. You can be personal or abstract, global or local, inspiring or polemical.
Format: Quicktime moving image. We are looking for a diversity of approaches: animation, video or digital film, photo stories, performance, silent or with sound, etc.
Length: between 15 seconds to 3 minutes.
