Saks Fifth Avenue and Parsons School of Fashion have partnered for the past seven years, showcasing the thesis collections of the designer of the year candidates from the BFA Fashion Design graduate class in Saks windows along with hosting a cocktail reception for friends and family. This year-end event occurs directly after graduation and provides a fitting tribute to all the hard work and talent represented by the graduating class. Typically the work remains in the windows for a  up to two weeks, affording passers-by a wonderful opportunity to view the thesis collections and offering the students vital exposure by this prime retailer on Fifth Avenue. This past year, 2009, an added bonus was the inclusion of the Crystallized Swarovski Elements sponsored costume project. The grand prize-winning costume by Ivy Kirk, “Elvis the King”, was featured in the corner window with the other winning costumes on view inside during the cocktail event.
