Parsons The New School for Design, PPR, and The Fancy have teamed up for “Empowering Imagination”, a contest providing Parsons students with a unique opportunity to win an internship within one of PPR’s 16 luxury and sport & lifestyle brands.

Out of twenty top candidates from the graduating class of the BFA Fashion Design program at Parsons, five finalists were chosen by a panel of fashion industry insiders based on the quality and conceptual vision of their graduating collections. The designers who best exemplified PPR’s defining theme, “Empowering Imagination” are now featured on The Fancy, where its one million users will help decide which two designers will win by “fancying” these looks. One ready-to-wear and one accessory designer will be awarded an expense-paid internship with a PPR brand and have their work showcased on the 8th floor Co-op at the iconic Barneys New York on Madison Avenue during September New York Fashion Week.

“I really love PPR’s operational mission of ’empowering imagination’. The truth is, a lot of people thought I was going crazy when I said “The Rooster” was going to be the theme of my senior thesis. I really enjoy finding inspiration in unconventional places. I believe this is the best way to challenge myself as a designer. My designs are visual re-interpretations of familiar, everyday things. No matter how wild I get with my designs, there’s always that little bit of something everyone recognizes.  This allows my designs to be accessible. In addition to feeling comfortable, I want my customer to look great, feel great, and above all be confident in how he presents himself.”

Her interest in design and art is a direct influence of her mother who is a sculptor and print maker. She was awarded the Menswear Designer of the Year at the Parsons 2012 Fashion Benefit and her looks were featured in a Parsons showcase in the windows of Saks Fifth Avenue.
