The March Student of the Month is Isabella Bowie! Read our Q&A with her below to learn about her experiences in the program so far and why she chose Parsons.
What is your name, or any nicknames you go by?
Isabella, but everybody calls me Izzy.
Where are you from?
I was born and raised in England.
What brought you to Parsons?
I came to Parsons as a freshman to pursue a degree in Fashion Design. I always dreamed of coming to New York and being immersed in the excitement of the city.
What special courses are you taking?
I am currently an accessory design major focused of developing a thesis collection of both handbags and shoes. I am particularly interested in the fusion of traditional techniques with modern technology.
If you could offer one piece of advice to an incoming student, what would that be?
Always look at the people surrounding you. Parsons is a phenomenally diverse student body and so much can be learned from all the people that you sit with everyday.
What is your Instagram handle?
@Isabella_bowie
What are you going to be doing over the weekend?
The weekend is my birthday so I will be celebrating with friends. It is also freezing cold, so trying to stay warm.
How would you describe your experience so far as a Parsons student?
I have loved the last three years at Parsons. It has been so much fun and I feel so lucky to have met so many amazing and interesting people. There are days that have been challenging and projects that have not gone so smoothly, but a laugh always comes from these situations.
What is one of the most important things you have learned/experienced at Parsons?
I have learned that anything is possible. There are endless opportunities within Parsons and New York. Everyday a new experience arises and, with good friends, everything is made even more enjoyable.
What keeps you motivated when there is too much work load?
I love to be challenged and the thought that something may not be possible always pushes me to make it work. I have wanted to be a designer from a young age and it excites me that everyday I get slowly closer to my dream.
