How has the potential immateriality and scalability of the digital image changed the way we traffic, absorb, curate and claim authorship to images? How has this mutability activated or informed a resurgence of traditional material forms? May we accurately measure the degree to which the contemporary photographic image, in conversation with video, sculpture and installation, has been fundamentally altered? Most importantly, how do we as artists put these hybrid forms of the photographic image to work to reassess the personal and political understanding of our time?
Free and open to the public
Followed by a reception at 66 5th Avenue
Organized in connection with 21 Cousins: 2012 MFA Thesis Exhibition in Photography.
