As fashion week is fast approaching, New York City is gearing up for another exciting week starting with Fashion’s Night Out on Thursday, September 6th. While the event was initiated in 2009 to boost sales during rough economic times, it has truly become a fashionable block party with each store promising an even more amazing night. Festivities will start at 6pm and end at 11pm (http://www.fashionsnightout.com).
With so many great events all in one night, be sure to make the most of your evening by planning accordingly. It is not every day that you can get up close and personal with some of the most famous names in the industry as they talk fashion. Diane Von Furstenberg’s meatpacking flagship promises appearances by HBO’s Girls actress Allison Williams as well as Vogue’s Senior Market Editor, Meredith Melling Burke (http://www.dvf.com). Pop into Balenciaga to check out their new accessories capsule collection by Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquière and Vogue’s Grace Coddington (http://www.balenciaga.com). Not to mention, New School graduate and Man Repeller blogger, Leandra Medine will be at Paige Denim (http://www.paigeusa.com) as well as Bobbi Brown (http://www.bobbibrowncosmetics.com) in SoHo talking jeans and the art of makeup. Oscar de la Renta will be sipping champagne at Saks Fifth Avenue while he gives samples of his new fragrance, Essential Luxuries while designer, Erin Fetherson will be close by advising people on blunt bangs (http://www.saksfifthavenue.com). Last but not least, be sure to drop by Ports 1961 at 3 Ninth Avenue, on the corner of Gansevoort Street from 6pm – 9pm to check out the Parsons MFA Fashion Design and Society 2012 Spring Graduate Installation. From celebrity sightings to exclusive merchandise, it guarantees a good time no matter what neighborhood or designer you choose to visit!
