Pattern People, the surface design studio and daily inspirational website based in the indie mecca, Portland, Oregon, recently published an e-pub, “Pattern Design & Beyond.” Designers and studio founders Claudia Brown and Jessie Whipple Vickery share their insider secrets, how-to design guides and helpful resources to launch your career in surface design.
The book also features over 80 international artists and print styles that inspire and describe the range of the market. As the publication was compiled Pattern People cast their net into the creative web inviting submissions for a curated showcase in their downloadable project.
Parsons The New School for Design student Eunsol Lee developed her design “Gaudistory” in Assistant Professor of Fashion Maura Jurgrau’s digital design course that was accepted and included in “Pattern Design & Beyond.”
Lee, inspired by Antonio Gaudi’s famously individualistic vision, used earthy neutral and playful bright tones. Her uniquely repeated patterns show Gaudi’s mosaic concept and subtle movement.
