The second annual partnership between Louis Vuitton North America and Parsons The New School for Design, created three live studio events celebrating the world of travel and fashion and innovation. Working in real time in three NYC locations (two at Parsons and the Louis Vuitton Soho store), six teams of students de-constructed signature Louis Vuitton pieces designed by LV Artistic Director and Parsons alumnus Marc Jacobs to create unique travel blankets. Working under the watchful eye of Parsons’ faculty, and armed with scissors, dye, trims and various other tools, the students worked all day in front of shoppers and passers by.
A panel of fashion experts, including Patricia Field, Nicole Phelps and LV’s Geoffroy Van Raemdonck judged the resulting work. The final installation was unveiled at a cocktail reception on Wednesday, October 13th at Louis Vuitton in Soho. The exhibit will remain up through Sunday October 17th, so stop by and take a look for yourself.
The winning team “Time Travel”, included Janelle Abbott, Zachary Clark, Emily Hudson and William Norris. And the prize? A trip for all four to Paris to visit the Louis Vuitton flagship and Epsace gallery along with a rare treat offered to a select few- a tour of the LV workshop in Asnieres outside Paris- not bad for a day’s work!
