Five emerging Japanese fashion designers, including those who participated in Fashion Week Tokyo, will introduce their design and philosophy to deepen the understanding of and interest in Japanese esthetics.

Having produced designers such as Yoji Yamamoto, Rei Kawakubo and Issey Miyake, Japan is the country known for appreciating artistry and craftsmanship. Its rich culture has mesmerized many fashion designers and has been a source of imagination.

Simon Collins, Dean, School of Fashion, Parsons The New School for Design

Simon Collins is Dean of the School of Fashion at Parsons The New School for Design. In this position since April 2008, Collins oversees the school renowned BFA degree program in Fashion Design; Associate Degrees in Fashion Design and Fashion Marketing; and a new MFA in Fashion Design and Society initiated through a gift from Parsons alumna Donna Karan.
