Yesterday’s panel discussion on Artisanry: Past, Present & Future with Kate Burns, Simon Collins, Lev Glazman, Holly Hotchner, & Ulrich Wohn was a great way to wrap up the year long project between LVMH and Parsons The New School For Design. All of the panelists were insightful and highly respectful of hand work and artisanship. Hopefully it’s not a lost art form in any medium, but especially in this age of fast, cheap , “landfill fashion”. The project documentary truly exemplified the care and pride the artisans put into each of their creations, and that there is still a niche for this means of production, and it should not disappear. Albeit the merging of artisanship with new technology should be a consideration.
