Hurricane Town Hall Recap

Safety:
Please all students and faculty record your name on the online sheet so we know who is ok and who needs help. We also need to know what challenges you are facing in getting here. To that end TNS has laid on buses to replace the L Train and the Path train from Jersey City/Hoboken. The President sent a note out with times and locations for these buses.

Attendance:
Please do your best, but of course we understand – no one will be penalized for being late or absent this week Living

Conditions:
– If you are having problems please tell your Advisers immediately. If you’ve lost power or materials etc please tell us immediately. If you’re upset by what’s happened, again contact your Adviser – If you haven’t seen someone for a while please tell Advising immediately – We are setting up the 560 2nd floor auditorium so students can work/rest in there temporarily. And we’re providing free pizza in 560 and 232 at lunchtimes all this week.

Make-up classes:
These are at the discretion of the faculty but should be minimal given the adjustments to project deadlines and in light of the fact that we all lost a week of class. The key is remaining flexible. We realize that each class is at varying stages and some students may remain on track without the need for adjustments, while some will require extensions. Working with coordinators faculty will tailor the adjusted project deadlines based on students’ need. Faculty members will create work plans for the remainder of the semester so students can plan their workload.

Facilities:
Our Facilities team have done an incredible job keeping our buildings open and running properly, please feel free to say thanks when you see any of the team around the buildings. We are working on getting 24 hour access and extended computer lab times. We will advise dates when confirmed.

Key Dates:
Registration begins on Nov 14th Petition to graduate deadline is Nov 14th Semester ends on Dec 18th

Donations/Volunteering:
– If you want to donate we are setting up a collection point in the lobby with a specific list of supplies needed
– If you want to volunteer please email Josie Tirado – but please be sure that your workload is covered first, we have a lot of school work to get through before the end of the semester.

Please note faculty FAQs, which are also posted on the NS website. Above all please try not to let the repercussions of the hurricane cause you unnecessary stress, there are people here to help so let us know if you need anything.

Best wishes for the remainder of the semester.
