Congratulations to Parsons student Ruchika Kabra’s show at the Stylepointe Fashion Show

Fashion studentRuchika Kabra showcased her own collection ECRU at this year’s Stylepointe Fashion Show, a unique project exploring the relationship between Fashion and Dance.

After completing her Bachelors degree in textile design from India, Ruchika worked in the field of embroideries, hand-block printing, hand-loom weaving and specialized in custom women’s wear. While working on custom orders, she opted for the best and shifted to New York to study at Parsons School of Design. In her own words: “I have always been inspired by the cultural aspect of any country. I seek for perfection in all my work and continue to learn and explore. Silk in its raw form is called ECRU; ecru combined with gold and silver threads create a magical fabric. This textile art as applied to fashion occupies the major portion of my work. The design of silk clothing has required great aesthetic vision and sensitivity of perception. This is because the pattern, cut and volume of a silk garment- whether worn by a man or woman- will condition the way its colors shimmer and shift in response to light and movement. The collection is all about silk used in its natural form. To add to the royal touch, are the crystals, which coordinate well with the sheen of silk.”

School of Fashion wishes her the very best and congratulations!
