Support Students & Faculty in the Solar Decathlon

Right now many of your fellow students and faculty members are in Washington, DC, competing in the Solar Decathlon. An international competition sponsored by the Department of Energy, the Solar Decathlon calls for contestants to design, build, and operate a solar-powered home on the National Mall. We’re up against 18 other university teams from around the world, and we need your vote to win.

Our entry, Empowerhouse, is one of the most ambitious projects: We did not simply create an exhibition home for the competition but partnered with the DC local government and Habitat for Humanity of Washington, DC, to create a real home for a local family and a model for future Habitat for Humanity projects. In fact, the family that will call Empowerhouse home celebrated the Solar Decathlon opening with our team last week. More than 200 students and faculty from across The New School contributed to this effort, which will have a lasting impact on the local DC community and the future of affordable, sustainable housing.

You can vote for Empowerhouse by visiting the http://www.solardecathlon.gov/poll/pca/pca_register.php anytime between now and September 28.

Connect to our Facebook and Twitter feeds for updates on the competition, and to get out the vote.

Thanks for your support! Let’s go New School!
