E4 Tool Checkout, Open Work Space, & Material Store

We are open primarily for contactless pick-up/returns*
Note that at this time, we are unable to accommodate any “walk-in” requests.

*Upon approval of your request, a designated area will be assigned as a pick-up location.

Orientations will not be offered in the Fall 2020 Semester. Students who were oriented in the past will retain access.

For new or returning students without existing authorization and/or interested in project planning or design, we offer E4 Virtual Open Hours to address any questions, concerns, or advice for home projects.

Note: Calendar only works for those with an active New School account.

Speak with one of the E4 Technicians who assist students with their projects and guide them towards the best Lab, Shop, and/or Studio to accomplish their goals. Students must come prepared with initial drawings, dimensions, and material list.

All authorized students intending to work on campus MUST reseve a seat via getspace.newschool.edu.

The Technician Consultation Appointment Calendar will appear once you complete your reservation in LibCal.

1. Fill out the brief campus access survey. This will help you to select your building and ensure that you are tested.
2. Make a Technician Consultation.
3. Request a seat via getspace.newschool.edu at least 48 hours in advance of coming to campus.

In the event that you need to cancel or change your booking, (barring emergency) please do so at least 48 hours prior to your current booking to allow other students utilize the time slot. Failure to do so can result in you losing your booking access for the week. Please reach out if you have any questions.

1. Visit reservation.newschool.edu to select and request equipment. Reservations must be made 48 hours in advance of coming to campus. Keep an eye on your email for the reservation request approval.
   
2. Pick up your equipment. Pick up times and locations will be sent with the reservation approval. Pickups and drop-offs occur from 12pm–5pm on weekdays. Students MUST fill out the daily MHealth symptom-self screening (find the personal link sent to each student via email) and bring your New School ID with you on the day of your reservation.

Open Work Space is available to all students and is located on the 4^th floor of 25 East 13^th Street. The space is prioritized for students where work can be observed and created collaboratively, encouraging students to experiment within the boundaries of theory and practice. The Open Work Space is adjacent to the Laser Cutting Lab, Metal Shop, and Wood Shop. This space is lightly supervised, thus we ask students to be attentive to the needs and wishes of those around them while working.

Available equipment includes: Hand Tools, Power Tools, Cutting Tools, Measuring Tools, Upholstery Tools, Pneumatic Tools, Clamps, etc.
