Mandatory Orientation
There will be no new orientations this semester.
Orientations are required for all students that are not currently enrolled in a Book Arts class and would like to use the facility.
Orientations for Letterpress are offered ONLY to students that have taken a class that covered that technique. Orientations are provided for the first month of every semester and upon request through a consultation with a technician later in the semester.

Project Submission / Pick-up Appointment
In an effort to facilitate making this semester, we will be allowing students:
- Screen coating and exposure. In addition to our normal screen access use within the shop, we are allowing for students to drop off their own film along with their own preapproved screens to be coated and exposed free of charge. This service is offered for all students, the only requirement is they must first request an appointment slot consultation with a technician. Screens must be no larger than 24 x 36. Film may be purchased for this process.
- Exposure of photolithography plates.
- Exposure of solar etching plates.
- Etching of copper plates in ferric acid.
Did you leave work in the Book Arts Studio and need to pick it up?
Pick-Up Appointments are available Wednesdays, 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.
About the Book Arts Studio
The Book Arts Room is open to students that are currently enrolled in a Book Arts course as well as students who have previously taken a Book Arts course and/or fulfilled orientation obligations. Students may be required to present their ID to a technician in order to use the shop equipment or materials. Students who have previously taken a Book Arts course who are not currently enrolled in a class are required to take an orientation (per semester) specific to the equipment they will be using in order to utilize the facilities. Classes that would like to use the Book Arts equipment must schedule a consultation with a technician and make sure that all students either take the proper orientation before class use or schedule a time to take an orientation all together. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to one of our technicians.
